AIR JORDAN SPIZIKE - BLACK/RED/CEMENT
- SHOE DESIGN SPECS |
|
| In celebration of their historic relationship, Jordan Brand and Spike Lee have come together to design the Jordan Spiz'ike, a combination of the Jordan III, IV, V, VI, and XX. A relationship that began in the late 80's through Nike's agency Wieden + Kennedy, Spike's character, Mars Blackman and Michael Jordan became the faces of the then emerging Jordan legacy. A key ingredient in helping to mold the image of the then-young Jordan line, Spike Lee contributed to each sneaker represented through the Spiz'ike including his most recent return to the brand last year with the Air Jordan XX. The Jordan Spiz'ike has a Q1000 and patent leather upper with a Phylon™ midsole and solid rubber outsole.

AIR JORDAN SPIZIKE - BLACK/RED/CEMENT
- GENERAL INFORMATION |
|
The
Air Jordan Spizike
The Air Jordan Spizike was made to show
appreciation to Mars Blackmon aka Spike
Lee. Spike's part in the rising of the
Air Jordan was very crucial. A lot of
people may remember the funny commercials
Spike Lee's alias Mars Blackmon from the
movie She's Gotta Have it.
Initially nicknamed the "retro Frankenstein",
the Air Jordan Spizikes had as many haters
as lovers initially and probably a few
more. Many anticipated that this was going
to be a bust, but when word got out that
the first colorway of the Air Jordan Spizikes
would only be available along I-95 (as
per Spike Lee's request), the hype for
these shoes boomed!
Initially, the Air Jordan Spizikes were
going to be released in only the first
two colorways, but after the more than
warm reception to the first colorway,
Jordan Brand fast tracked 5 new colorways
including one that is themed after another
hot Spike Lee joint, "Do The Right
Thing."
Spike Lee produced or appeared in commercials
reciprocating to each model represented
on the Air Jordan Spizikes.
What makes the Air Jordan Spizikes so
special is the fact they are made up of
a total of six different Air Jordan's,
the Jordan III (midsole), Jordan IV (Wings),
Jordan V (Uppers), Jordan VI (Tongue),
Jordan IX (Pull Tab) also every Air Jordan
Spizike to release (besides the White/Varsity
Red-Classic Green) has the Jordan rising
sun logo at the heel which originally
release on the Jordan IX, and last but
not least the Jordan XX (Laser on the
inside liner).
