History has a way of repeating itself, and
this time the Jordan brand is bringing back
the Air Jordan XVIII and the Air Jordan
V to create the Jordan Collezione 18/5 two-pack
of legendary kicks. The Air Jordan V was
originally released in 1990 and took its
inspiration from the WWII Mustang fighter
plane. It was worn by MJ as he won his fourth
scoring title, and was also made famous
by the "Spike and Mike" collaboration.
Details include a synthetic and full-grain
leather upper, breathable TPU and mesh quarter
panels, a molded and contoured ankle collar
and a dynamic-fit sleeve for additional
comfort. The midsole is sculpted PU that
houses an encapsulated Air Sole unit in
the forefoot, along with a large-volume
Air Sole unit. The outsole is solid and
clear rubber with flex grooves and a multidirectional
herringbone pattern for increased traction.
The Air Jordan XVIII was worn for MJ's final
game in 2003 and was inspired by high-performance
Italian racing cars. It features a full-grain
suede and leather upper with breathable
vents in the ankle and forefoot, along with
TPU chrome accents, a lace cover that assists
in keeping laces tied, and a foam-backed
Lycra® collar for a comfortable fit.
Other details include high-tech carbon fiber
in the heel, a double-lasted midsole around
lightweight Phylon™, double-stacked
Zoom Air™ units and a Jordan Carbon
Comfort sockliner for arch support and foot
frame comfort. The modified herringbone
pattern outsole increases traction for lateral
and linear motion, with solid rubber pods
separated with TPU, a chrome-plated Jumpman
and solid rubber that wraps up the heel
counter for additional support and style.
